ALAN LEE COLLECTION

Alan Lee, renowned New York designer, brings his creative passion and talent into the creation of his latest collection of contemporary, handmade glassware and dinnerware for today's modern homes and lofts.

Alan Lee, a man who came from a humble background, struggled to survive a long journey to America with his family at the tender age of five, strived to learn English and adapt to this new culture, finally finds his true identity and talent in a city called New York. This is his story.

In the early 1970’s, Alan Lee and his family were forced out of Vietnam because of the war. After enduring a long, strenuous and potentially life threatening boat trip, as well as surviving the miserable conditions of a refugee camp, they eventually found their way to the United States. At the young age of five, he started his first day at a public elementary school where he had the new experience of meeting other children from different ethnic backgrounds. At school and from interaction with fellow students and friends, he learned about the western culture through games, school activities, sports and the English language. In his teens, he discovered his distaste for a regimented education and lifestyle. Instead, through the joy of interacting with friends, he came to embrace the free spirited person he’s become today. After high school, his true calling came when his creative impulses brought him to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where he studied jewelry design.

Established in 1995, the Alan Lee Collection was co-founded by designer Alan Lee and his partner William Seeley. Since inception, the once small selection of about 20 pieces has grown to well over 200 pieces - a complete collection of contemporary, handmade and functional items for the modern home. Every season, Alan finds fresh inspirations in the exciting and robust world he lives in as he continuously designs new styles for the home and entertainment.

ARCHELAN STUDIO

Archelan is recognized as the finest crystal glass inside-painting in the world. Showcased by some of the most prestigious art galleries, fine jewelers and museums in the country, these rare and extraordinary works of art blend contemporary style with timeless elegance.

Co-founders and lead designers, Peter Huang and Samantha Lee welcome you to the world of Archelan Creations, where cultures cross and human emotions connect. As a pioneering design company, our desire is to share with you the artistic beauty of Asia by blending contemporary elegance with splendid Eastern Art-- creating fine decorative and functional objects that are universally captivating, distinctive and timeless.

Ever since the Middle Kingdom opened its gates, its 5,000 years of culture and artistic achievements have captured the fascination of the world. Today, as urban high rises and Western style condominiums traverse the new landscape of China, many classical arts have since been resigned to reproductions of inferior quality, catering to the tourists and the curious. As a result, once prized artistic works and artisans have become stale - no longer a symbol of innovation and pride, but created merely for trade and profit.

At Archelan, our aim is to recapture the original splendor of these “lost arts” by highlighting the essence of what makes them truly special. By fusing Eastern lineage with contemporary designs, we are redefining the way Asian art is traditionally perceived and in turn, creating a distinctive new style-- the Archelan brand-- and the finest Crystal Glass Inside-Painting the world has ever witnessed.

The spirit of partnership between designer, artist, glass sculptor and inside-painter is the catalyst in creating such extraordinary art objects. The innovative Archelan style is distinguished by the fusion of modern forms and functionality, the dynamic interpretation of color and the gentle expressions of nature, love and life.

Our passion for detail and quality is self-evident. Using optical grade crystal glass, each design is completely hand sculpted and polished to an exceptional brilliance and clarity. Matched with an original Archelan painting, our master inside-painters use a slender hooked paintbrush to meticulously create a remarkable masterpiece of unsurpassed detail on the inside surface of the glass. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and a true treasure.

Delve deeper and you will discover that each artwork tells a personal story, a universal message of human sentiment. Whether it is a glimpse into the heart, a celebration of life or a symbol of affections-- allow it to become a part of your life and share the inspirations with someone special.

We invite you to view our collection of exclusive designs that are sure to become a centerpiece of your imagination.

FUSIO STUDIO

An architect by profession, a designer and artist by passion, Richard Parrish is the artist and founder of Fusio Studio. Join him on his journey of exploration in the depth of glass, of texture and pattern, transparency and opacity as he creates his latest designs of contemporary and functional glass for the home.

Richard Parrish has been working in fused glass since the mid-1980’s. He founded a glass studio for fused glass and architecture in Bozeman, Montana where he continues to design and develop his art / craft as well as satisfying his passion for teaching by holding regular glass workshops at this studio for enthusiasts.

With a Master of Architecture degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Idaho, Richard draws design inspirations from architecture in his creations. Fusio Studio creates an impressive collection of glasswork that includes functional objects such as dinner plates and bowls, sushi sets, freestanding and wall hung panels, and architectural installations such as tiles, windows and wall panels.

Fused glass, sometimes called warm glasswork, is done in a kiln much like a ceramics kiln. Sheet glass is cut and fit together, then fused to about 1500 degrees. Crushed and powdered glass, copper, glass threads, and other materials are sometimes introduced, while bowls and plates are slumped over porcelain molds after fusing flat.

Richard’s new designs explore texture and pattern, transparency and opacity, and depth in the glass. Richard cuts and fits individual glass pieces together to create finished works with graphic quality, rich textures and surfaces. For example, the Leaves Collection uses maple, gingko, and aspen leaves and glass powders to create patterns that are recognizable, yet abstract.

Glass is a medium that allows wonderful explorations in the transparency and “lightness” of glass along with the color of light, as evident in Fusio’s Contemporary Sushi Set, Leaves and Color Block Collections. Each design and creation is inspired by a sense of balance to create a harmonious work of art through glass, colors and patterns, and imagery.
